2024-04-18Defrost Youth Choir School Visit and Exchange

Our school was honored to have the visit by the Defrost Youth Choir (34 members in total) from Norway on the afternoon of 1st March. It was arranged by the Hong Kong Virtuoso Chorus (HKVC). There were 3 main activities during their visit to our school: a choral performance, a Chinese paper-cutting experience accompanied by Hong Kong style refreshments, and a Ching Shing campus tour.

 

That afternoon, in the school hall of Ching Shing Main Campus, our P.1 Choir, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, English Ambassadors and all P.4 students gathered with the Defrost Youth Choir. Our three choirs sang some English, Mandarin and Cantonese songs to mark the opening of the concert. When the Defrost Youth Choir came on stage, they performed a number of beautiful a cappella songs under the conductor Prof. Thomas Caplin, and even sang "Under the Lion Rock" in Cantonese with the whole audience.

 

After that, it was the refreshment time. We prepared some famous Hong Kong refreshments i.e. egg tarts for the Defrost Youth Choir members, Our students also prepared some spring couplets and paper-cutting activities which were enjoyed by all.

 

At the end of the exchange, our English Ambassadors and Senior Choir students had the opportunity to play the role of tour guides to show Defrost Youth Choir members and other guests around the MKC AI Farm. Finally, it was time for the teachers and students of our school to bid farewell to the members of the Defrost Youth Choir.

 

The visit by the Defrost Youth Choir truly gave our teachers and students an eye-opening and rewarding experience!

2024-04-18MKC Sports Day

Our school's Sports Day was held on 22nd March. The weather was great on that day, and students participated excitedly in their events. After the pandemic, all the relays and parent-child competitions resumed, and parents, teachers and students all had a wonderful time, showing how perseverant they are!

2024-04-15TWGHs Joint Primary School Soccer Competition

The TWGHs Joint Primary School Soccer Competition was held on January 21st. The competition was divided into six categories (Boys: senior, intermediate, junior and Girls: senior, intermediate, junior), with a total of 83 teams participating. Our school sent 6 teams with a total of 50 students taking part in the games.

After the long battles, all 6 of our football teams got excellent results. Among them, the boys' senior won the Cup Champion, the boys' intermediate and girls' senior won 2nd runner-up in the Cup; the girls' intermediate won the Shield Champion, and both the boys' and girls' junior came 1st runner-up in the Shield.

In addition, P.6 WONG UE SHUN won the Most Valuable Player Award, and P.5 YE ZICHEN won the Best Goalkeeper Award in the boys' Senior category.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our principal for her encouragement, to our PE teachers for their continuous guidance, and to the parents for their support, especially to the parents who came and watched the games in the field.

2024-04-15Mathematics Times Table Recitation Competition

The Maths department held the 1 to 9 Times Table Recitation Competition for P.2-3 students from 19th-28th February.

During the competition, the students participated actively and enjoyed it throughout.

2024-04-15TWGHs Teaching Award Scheme

The Chinese Department of our school participated in the TWGHs Teaching Award Scheme (Chinese Language). After submitting the proposal and interviewing with the TWGHs panel, we were awarded the "Excellent Project Award"!

Winning this award not only reflects the dedication of our teaching team, but also fully affirms the school's teaching quality. The school will work hard to continue to provide students with a high-quality learning experience.

2024-04-11Meet the Principal Award Scheme (February)

The Meet the Principal Award Scheme recognizes students who have made improvements in their academic performance or behavior. In February, two students from each class were chosen for the award. The nominated students were invited to have lunch with Principal Lo and they were commended during the joyous meal. We hope that all our students will continue to work hard and show improvement in all aspects!

2024-03-112024 Spring Festival Gala - CMG

We are honored to be selected to participate in the Spring Festival Gala produced by China Media Group. Two P.2-P.3 students from our school choir went to Beijing three times for training and rehearsals. On New Year's Eve, they represented the Greater Bay Area and sang their folk song-"It's Raining Heavily", giving everyone a wonderful performance!

2024-03-07P.6 Education Camp

The P.6 students participated in a three-day two-night outdoor education camp from 22nd to 24th January, 2024. Through participating in the adventure activities, group games, performances, our students learned self-discipline, self-care, and improved on their interpersonal skills. Although the weather was cold on those days, the teachers and students still had great fun!

2024-03-07Chinese Culture Day

Our school held a "Chinese Culture Day" before the Lunar New Year. Students not only enjoyed the face-changing performance, but also played some Chinese cultural booth games such as guessing lantern riddles, chuiwan, designed by our teachers. Students also made some Chinese cultural related crafts in the classroom. Students also wore beautiful Huafu to celebrate take part in the events. Our students learned about the traditional Chinese culture through different activities on that day.

2024-03-072024 P.5 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area City Exploration Tour

From 23rd to 24th January, 2024, P.5 students participated in the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area City Exploration Tour" - a historical, cultural and technological exploration tour of Guangzhou and Zhuhai. Through this trip, the students learned about the history, culture and cultural relics conservation of Panyu, Guangzhou, and understood that it is the responsibility of the people to protect and inherit Chinese culture. In addition, students visited the Aifeike Aviation Popularization of Science Education Base and By-Health Company to gain a deeper understanding of Zhuhai’s aviation development and the development of innovative technology in the Mainland. In the process, the students learned to take care of each other, share with each other, and tolerate each other. It was really a rare learning opportunity.

2024-03-07Austrian-Chinese Profound Arts Festival x TWGHs Schools (North District) Piano and Trumpet Masters Class cum Concert

The Education Division of TWGHs invited piano and brass masters from Austria to hold a class in our school. Trumpet master Mag. Helmut Fuchs and piano master Mag. Lilly Zhang-Sowa from Austria provided on-site individual guidance to our students.

2024-03-07"Never Give Up! 30 Seconds Challenge"

This year's school positive education theme is "Perseverance". During the Life-wide Learning week, we organized an activity called "Never Give Up! 30 Seconds Challenge" to train our students to be brave enough to accept challenges and failures.

There are 3 challenges for each grade. Students could sign up for any one of the challenges. The Positive Education Team deliberately provided the tools needed for each challenge about a month beforehand so that students could practise in their classroom during recess. They have learned to be perseverant in order to achieve success.

On the day of the finals, every contestant strived for their best performance and proved that they were not afraid of failure and made persistent efforts to achieve their goals. The students watching the game also showed great support for each participating student. We believe that through this activity, students were able to develop their different character strengths to cope with challenges and difficulties.

2024-03-06PTA Family Trip

The PTA family trip was held on 20th January. The weather was beautiful on that day. About 300 students, parents and teachers joined the trip. Everyone took this opportunity to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Kam Tin Country Club. Everyone played together, had barbecue together, and enjoyed their family time.

2024-03-06Athlete Training Camp

In order to enhance the ability of the team members and build team spirit, 95 members of our school basketball team, football team and rope skipping team participated in the athlete training camp held at the Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp on 13th January. We hope that through the day camp training, our students had learned to be perseverant and never give up.

2024-03-05Life-wide Learning Week

The school held a Life-wide Learning week from 12th - 19th January to broaden students' horizons and enrich their learning experiences through diversified learning activities both inside and outside the school. Students actively participated in various learning activities, such as visits, seminars, workshops and classroom activities, and shared their learning outcomes.

2024-03-05Earth 2038 Learning Journey of Sustainable Consumption

P.4 students participated in the Earth 2038 Learning Journey of Sustainable Consumption, which was co-organized by the Consumer Council and HKedCity. Students experienced a series of carefully designed real-life consumption situations. They realized their responsibilities as "global citizens", and hence reflected on their daily consumption methods, behaviors and attitudes. They also reflected on their relationship with the Earth, and thus learned to use the sustainable consumption method to make every consumption choice.

2024-03-05English Fun Day

We recently had our English Fun Day at MKC and our theme was ocean animals and conservation. We welcomed Andrea Richey from the Hong Kong Shark Foundation to give a talk about sharks, why they are important, and what students can do to help save them in our seas. Students played games, watched videos and did crafts all while learning about endangered sea life and how to help our planet. It was great fun!

We began the new academic year on 4th September this year. We hope that in the new school year our students will not only set and strive for their new goals, but also more fully develop their personal strengths.

The Prize Presentation Ceremony for Student of the Year Award cum HKDSE Outstanding Awards 2023 was held on 22nd July. Congratulations to P.5 LING CHEUK HAN MICHELLE for winning the Tung Wah Student of the Year Award (3rd place) and P.6 CHOW HO YIN for winning the Tung Wah Student of the Year Award (Extracurricular Activities).
